Custom Analysis

Custom Analysis

Your preferred service provider can conduct custom analysis services to investigate the problems and opportunities discovered within PrimePulse projects.

Experience tells us that retrospective analysis within herd recording programs is very time consuming, often fruitless and sometimes dangerous.  Data mining (or slicing & dicing) is fraught with statistical bias and prone to misinterpretation by laymen.  But if you are determined to dig, then use the PrimePulse SPC (Statistical Process Control) analysis to focus your efforts.  SPC divides your analysis into time spans that are assured to be statistically different (confidence limits can be customised to increase the success of your mining efforts).  This gives you a control (previous time span) to compare the response against (current time span) and seasonal analysis to remove the time effect.

See Case Studies: "Variablility Injected By Staff Differences" for a successful example of data mining.

The above approach is an internally focused continuous improvement process.  The output should be a new idea or process (captured from within the production system) that may be implemented and tested using ePiggery and PrimePulse to evaluate the response.

An externally focused continuous improvement process begins with a holistic evaluation of the business enterprise and seeks to import knowledge into the production system:

  1. Use ePiggery to quantify business performance & identify issues to address.
  2. Use ePiggery & PrimePulse to benchmark the potential to improve (shortlist and prioritise issues).
  3. Select a high impact low risk production / business issue to address.
  4. Review industry standard best practices & plan intervention required.
  5. Evaluate response to managerial intervention (ePiggery & PrimePulse).
  6. Reject or refine standard operating procedures to lock in improvements.
  7. Return to step 1 (continuous improvement cycle).

An externally focussed process is the place to start.  This capitalises upon existing knowledge and requires external expertise to accelerate successful implementation (especially steps 1 & 4 above).
Here are a few examples of customised analysis (see Case Studies for detailed examples):

  • Profit optimisation.
  • Designing production expansion programs.
  • Justification of refinancing applications (independent validation).
  • Comparative “What If” cost benefit analysis of new business strategies, production procedures, products or services.
  • Slaughter data and Price Systems analysis.
  • Staff training and incentive scheme design.
